Granite rapids
Dana Butte, upstream at Granite
watercolor
2008
$650

Painting at Granite can be tricky. It only works if I hike in or camp their early on a river trip. This rapid as far as I am concerned is very like Lava Falls. Instead of a black rock that the river runs into, this rapid collides with an island that creates a monster eddy.

If you are unlucky and end up in this eddy it is one of the hardest to get Out of!

So sitting and painting can be tricky....as the level of thought about what is about to happen when running the rapid is always quit present in the brain. I have only done two painting of this view.
